Gauge blocks a fundamental standards for linear measurement. They are used either individually or in combination of several blocks which are wrung together. The blocks are made from quality alloy steel with no less than HRC64 hardness. They have fine wear resistance and are heat treated in special ways so as to stabilise their lengths.
